Child Support
The Child Support Department records judgments on domestic cases.
This department usually receives copies of court orders three to five days after they are signed by the judge. Information from these orders is then entered into the Clerk of the District Court’s computer system.
If there is an order for child support, specific dollar amount medical support, specific dollar amount medical reimbursement, genetic testing, or spousal support (on a case with child support), that information is transferred by computer to CHARTS--the State of Nebraska child support computer system. This update to the state system takes two days.
This department also receives and processes non-monetary receipts on judgments tracked both through CDC and CHARTS.
Here is a partial list of things we do:
- General child support questions
- Payment disbursement information (paid thru CDC)
- Address changes
- Support order information (update to CHARTS)
- Automatic withdrawals (paid thru CDC)
- Payments mailed to bank (paid thru CDC)
- Non-monetary receipts
- Interstate child support questions
- Release of liens on domestic cases
